No War On Iran Protest
On Saturday morning, Aug. 2, 80 plus people lined both sides of a busy Midtown Atlanta street with banners and signs opposing any economic sanctions or military attack on Iran. The antiwar activists received honks of approval from many of the passing cars and cheers from pedestrians. Leaflets urging people to contact their elected officials and voice their rejection of any land, sea, or air blockade of Iran as contained in House Resolution 362 were distributed to shoppers. The flyer urged them to go online to sign the Stop war On Iran petition.
The action initiated by the International Action Center and the Georgia Peace and Justice Coalition/Atlanta drew long-time activists as well as a number of youth and students and members of the Iranian community. Several people came in response to a half-page “no War on Iran” ad placed in a weekly newspaper.
